When the internet first took off, people asked what you could possibly do with an email address. Michael Levine, CFO of Fireblocks, believes blockchain is at that same early stage today. Levine sits down with JD Durkin at Money 20/20 USA in Las Vegas to explain how Fireblocks, the digital asset infrastructure platform used by asset managers, hedge funds, payments companies and some of the world’s biggest banks, is seeing banks and payments companies now drive more transaction volume than crypto trading firms. He shares how the passage of the GENIUS Act opened the door for banks to explore tokenized deposits and tokenized real world assets, and why, borrowing from Wayne Gretzky, everyone knows where the puck is going, even if institutions are skating there at different speeds. Levine also explains why many of his CFO peers still confuse stablecoins with Bitcoin, and why he expects tokenized stocks to become so common that most people won’t even realize they own them.
