Banks spend billions every year investigating suspicious transactions, and much of that time goes to gathering data before an investigator can even begin. Carson Pickens, Senior Vice President at FIS, sits down with JD Durkin at Money 20/20 USA in Las Vegas to talk about the FIS AML Investigations Agent, now commercially available to US banks. Pickens explains how FIS built the agent alongside forward deployed engineers from Anthropic, using Claude to reason across a bank’s data and automate the investigation process from alert triage through suspicious activity report preparation. He shares projections from design partner Amalgamated Bank, including about 90% efficiency in initial alert triage and 98% in full investigations, and explains why human investigators still make the final call. He also discusses why FIS is opening the agent to banks that aren’t FIS clients and what’s next on its roadmap, from card disputes to back office automation.
