Faking a bank statement used to take serious Photoshop skills. Now it takes a single prompt. Sam Bobley, Co-Founder and CEO of Ocrolus, sits down with JD Durkin at Money 20/20 USA in Las Vegas to explain how generative AI has made fake pay stubs and bank statements nearly undetectable to the human eye, and what lenders can do about it. Bobley shares how Ocrolus, an AI and analytics platform for small business, mortgage and consumer lenders, now detects documents created from scratch by AI, not just altered ones, and gives every document an authenticity score so lenders know where to focus. He explains how Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s push for oversight is shaping the use of AI in mortgage lending, and why Ocrolus pairs AI with deterministic checks to keep errors out of lending decisions. He also previews a new fraud agent that checks business reviews, locations and transaction patterns, so a dentist’s office that turns out to be in the middle of a field gets flagged.
